Valentine's Day!

The celebration on Valentine's Day signifies the love and affection and celebrated by the lover in most of the countries. In India, lovers wait for this day to celebrate, mostly enjoy it by spending evening in pub / party, restaurants, at home or something else. At the end, they just want to enjoy the day and dedicate it for their loved ones. However, in western countries (based on the experience in Netherlands), lovers doesn't need any special day to celebrate their love. Their every day is equally enjoyable and full with love and affection. I didn't saw any special event happening around the city, could be because I didn't went to party place. But still, I don't see any big news, offers, or arrangements as such. I still remember that the restaurants and pubs have special arrangements for this day. One more reason for my short vision is because I didn't go anywhere as such today. I wakeup at 2:00PM so, spent more than half a day for sleeping and than doing the basic work like cooking / cleaning / bla bla. However, I would say that I enjoyed the day because I am happy this time. And the happiness is something which I am always looking for. So, everything is perfect if I am happy.

Let's talk more about the Valentine's Day! Just one day is not enough for lovers to celebrate, so they made a really long week based celebration. Each day in the week is dedicated for some particular task. These tasks are starts from very beginning of the love to the intense love. Last year, I posted a blog on each day and dedicated some song. However, this year, things have been changed a lot and I am very busy in my thesis work. So, I could not able to post any blog since past two months. Another hectic week started which didn't allow me to write my blog as well. I did some good work in last few days. On 30th Nov, I spend lot of time in study, trying to realize the method to compare two set of probabilistic waveforms, one from an individual inverter with an ideal ramp input signal and another one from an inverter chain. The main challenge of this experiment to make sure that comparison of waveforms are valid, I mean the input of the final inverter in the inverter chain and individual inverter in another experimental setup should have same input signal slew. I have developed a method to size the inverter chain on the fly to generate the exactly same slew as of individual inverter. After making the required setup, I found that both waveform are almost same and having very close output slew. My next task was to change the output signal slew to analyze the waveform variation. I attacked this problem by changing the input signal slew and captured all the waveforms. Surprisingly, I found that output waveform in all the cases are having almost same output signal slew. This new issue encouraged me to play with circuit and come-up with set of parameters and their range to cover required output slew range from 5ps to 600ps. I started with input signal slew and channel length. This combination did not worked out well. Then I tried with input signal slew and channel width. This combination also fails to give full swing in the output signal slew. Till now, I was using a high capacitor as a output effective capacitive load. I had reasoning for making this constraint in the design. But, since none of the combination of parameters were able to give us full swing of the output signal slew. I had thought to change output load as well. So, in the new experiment, I have used input signal slew and output capacitive load as two parameters and it works! I got full swing of the output signal slew which was desired but on the cost of variable output capacitive load. Now, in the rest of the week, I have to develop the complete method to model a set of probabilistic output waveform with circuit component.

This was my two days of academic work. But today is my third day of writing blog. It means one day is missing. Exactly! I was not in the university on Dec 1. On that day, I went for an excursion to Dutch Space, A dutch Company. This excursion was organized by student group of our department (ETV). This company makes solar panel for space satellites, parts of satellites rocket launcher, robotic cars like one went to Mars, robotic arm for international space station and many more. In fact we saw all these products in the lab. This was an amazing experience for me. I have taken some photos of the trip which are posted here:

It is interesting to know that I finally managed to get some time for writing my blog. I was thinking daily to write something but I couldn’t able to make it somehow. However, today I have finally got some time. This is superb great!

A lot of things have been happen in the last few days which are very difficult to remember and write it down. However, I will try to write at least some of them.

Professor Michel has given me a gift which is sent by Saint Nicholas (A sweet dutch culture). The gift was a very testy chocolate having my initial in big font. Photo of the gift is here:

Apart from this, I also visited to Den Haag. There, I went to Scheveningen Beach. In this winter, almost no one was on the beach except few crazy adventurous fun lovers doing surfing on the strong wave. It was fun watching them live. I spent more then an hour just standing and watching them, enjoying strong wind, and natural beauty. This trip was on the bike when the outside temperature was 8*C! It was fun doing biking of almost 40 KM in this cold and rainy weather. Here, I have some photos of this trip:

The next big task I have completed is very interesting. I have finally collected some photos and videos of our diwali celebration. It was another day of the week but with full of energy because I was completely out of vacation hangout now. I finished the first version of the report in the college time and watched the movie "2012" in the night time.

It was another day for writing the same report. I had written down the content of the report (mostly mathematical equations and explanations) on the sheet of paper. Once the layout was ready, I decided to install MikTex for writing the report in Latex. Finally I had completed a part of the report on the day. In the evening I thought to watch the movie "2012" and decided to download it. Luckily I got a single file link with the file size of 2.04GB. Unfortunately the download speed was very-very poor, around 30-40 kbps, it took the entire night to download the movie.

The morning was quite normal and I was still trying to come out of Diwali hangout. The day started slowly, I had the task of writing down the mathematical equations of the work I had done till now, and I had finally progress a little on that. That was the work in the whole day!

Next day after every event is always very tiring. The same happen today. I woke-up very late, around 11AM and then somehow came to college because I had to make phone call. In the college I made phone call to my home, did lunch and then I returned back to home. I was still very tired, and slept very early, around 10PM. So, basically I did nothing on the entire day.

BIG DAY! The day of 15th Nov was second most awaited day of the year (first one was the day when I return back to India!). Today we had Diwali celebration in TU Delft. Diwali celebration is not the reason to say this day as most awaited day, today we had a cultural program and we had six programs in the list. And, I was performing in four out of these six programs. This includes two dances, a skit, and a fashion show on Indian culture. And I was excited because first time in my life, I was going to dance on the stage, and walk on the ramp of the fashion show! This diwali fills a lot of happiness in my life because I am doing something which I always wanted to do but never had enough courage to really do it. Out of these two dances, one was on a very old Indian TV Channel Durdarshan with the lyrics "Ek Chidiya, Anek Chidiya". And the second dance was on a very well known bollywood dance song "Bumaro Bumaro" from movie "Mission Kashmir" and the song is a "Kashmiri Lok-geet". The skit was based on the recent activities on the "TUDIndian" Yahoo Group and I (BALRAM urf BALMA urf BALLU) was acting as a new master’s student who is email-addicted and doesn’t like girls at all! And finally in the fashion show, I was a gujju guy. In the entire program I changed my dress four times, so basically right after every event I was running toward the change room to get new dress-up. I am still collecting the photos and videos to share over here.

I was in these performances because people have given me a chance to perform and helped me to learn the steps. They guided me at every step to learn the steps and expressions to give a better performance. I am very thankful to Akshay for selecting me in "Ak-Anek", Vaibhay for selecting me in "Bumaro-Bumaro", Himanshu for giving me a role in "Skit" and Shilpa for accepting my request in "Fashion Show". These thanks are not a formality, but an emotional feelings coming from the bottom of my heart.

I know some people personally who were very actively involved in the preparation of this event. Akshay/Mukta had a 7 month old baby but they were guiding every single stage performance, Sachin/Supriya and Chetan/Shilpa were also intensively involve in organization and event performance, Krishna/Murthy/Deepak/Amit had put there best effort to make sure that every single detail of the event organization goes smoothly. In spite of the fact that Krishna and Murthy knew that they will not be able to attend the event, they did their best in the organization, talking to International Office, arranging venue, dates, bla bla. There were many more, and I am unable to mention every name here.

At the end of the program, we had a professional DJ! It was desi DJ with full of Hindi disco songs, and we had 2 hour full masti in DJ. It was amazing and we had a lot of fun in the entire day. Finally we were very tired and could not able to do anything after that went to home and slept.

At the end, I would like to remember the motivation force which always encouraged me to participate in the cultural program and gives the motivation for dance.

"Kaise bataye kyun tujhko chahe, Yaara bata na paaye, Baatein dilon ki zuban, Aankhon ki tujhe samjhayen"... the day started with this song because I forgot to shutdown my laptop last night and there was only one song in the winamp! And then, a busy day started with the chat with few people in the morning... it was a nice start of the day. Finally I eat some food and went to market to buy the daily food items. Fortunately, we had finished all the food items (including rice) last day and had nothing to eat, so I had no option other then starting the day with the shopping. Right after the shopping, the rush of the day starts. Tried to cook some quick-food, eat it and run for the diwali practice. Even with very fast work, I was one hour late in the practice session. In this diwali, I am participating in 4 events and had practice of 3 events today. Dance practice is always tiring but skit was cool. I enjoyed it a lot. Today we had rehearsal with the final dress, so I changed my dress 4 times in the practice session! And ready for final show of tomorrow.

The day didn’t ends here. All the disorder of the day starts after this. I returned from the practice at around 6PM and then slept because I was very tired. I know that 6PM is very early but I don’t exactly know when I slept, which indicate that I was really very tired... and finally I wake-up at 12:00 mid night... and then I tried a lot to sleep again, but could not able to get it... so thought to had dinner and checked email... not only email, now I have to check wave as well because I finally got the wave account and now I should be regular to check the wave like email! Orkut and facebook is already there to kill a lot of time.

Anyways, its already 2:22PM and I think I should somehow sleep as I have to go for shopping again tomorrow, followed by cooking and then final grand finale of this session! I have to be there at around 2PM with all the set of dress. I still don’t know if the fashion show is going to happen tomorrow or not, but at-least a kid-dance, a choreography-dance, and a skit is ready for tomorrow. There are quite a few more events tomorrow but I am in only these three events. There will be video recording tomorrow and will be uploaded on the youtube sometime. I shall be happy to share the videos once they will be ready.

I am back on the blog, writing about myself after almost 9 month. I could have produced a lot in the 9 months if I would have worked had in those days. Anyways, the gone time can not be returned. Only we can learn and improve for future. I will try to start the process again!

Today is another Friday, but no as usual. It is very busy. The day started with the invigilation duty in one exam, followed by thesis meeting with professor and team. Somehow I got exactly 10 min to finish my lunch today. Right after the meeting, I ran for another appointment with doctor, took my friend to hospital for the check-up and consult with physician. The day didn’t end here. Now I have to go for the dance practice session which we are going to perform in the Dewali celebration in TU-Delft by TU-Delft Indian community. A very first question anyone can think is why we are celebrating diwali one month after the actual diwali. And the answer is very simple; this diwali is for TU-Delft Indians and should be celebrated when majority is available. We have 1st quarter exam during that time so, we decided to shift by this time. Anyways, we have dewail celebration on this Sunday, 15th Nov, 2009.

Luckily there was only one class today. Since I slept very late yesterday, I woke-up very late, around 11:00AM. Then I started copying the assignment... Since I had a class from 1:45PM, I packed the work and went to the college for the class, and start making assignment after the class. And I finished the copying at 8:30PM, and professor already left the university building. I slipped-in the assignment bellow his office door and return to 17th floor to take some printout of paper which I need to read as soon as possible. I returned home abound 10:00PM and luckily got the dinner for me. Surely if I could have late by 5 minute more, I would not have got anything to eat! After dinner, I did some other work and slept.

Hummm ... Again the classes started, today with 2 lectures. Also, I had to finish Computer Arithmetic assignment today as its deadline is tomorrow. After the lecture I return back to home because I was feeling sleepy in the class. The reason I was feeling sleepy because I slept very late last night which disturbed my entire biological activities. I woke-up around 8:00PM and then started the assignment, took the dinner and then assignment till 5:00AM. Till now we have finished only the assignment problems in rough pages, I still have to spend around 5 hour to put it into a fare paper for the submission, which I will do tomorrow.

The new month starts with Sunday but not with holiday! 2 assignment deadlines were on the top of my head, one on 3rd and other on 4th. I spend most of my day to read Computer Arithmetic and I finished it on time, i.e. before starting the cooking. Humm ... today was my turn to cook, and I planned to cook Daal with rice today. After study, I started cooking dinner and targeted to cook for more then 10 people. Unfortunately we didn't have any cooking item, like onion and rice, so I borrowed some of them from Akansh! After cooking, we did some talk and then day was over!

Finally I have successfully reached to the end of February! This is my second continuous month for keep writing the blog very regularly. I am feeling very-very happy to continue it, although there were some week nods, like missing few days in between but doing make-up in the coming days make it finally a  success story, and I promises to continue it for longer time. This is not just blog or email, this is much more then that. Here I am trying to capture myself, my day, my feeling, my thoughts and my own life in my words. The interesting part of this blog is a business deal which I am having with it. If I am giving a part of my life to it then I am also getting back a lot in my life, and the list starts with the writing skill, platform to express myself and the most important is to get a channel to say something to her which can not be said on the email or chat so easily, i.e. I love her the most. And this blog is to let her up-to-date about my daily life, what I am doing, what I am missing, how I am dealing with it, and how important any usual day use to be for me.

Apart form completing my continuous 2 month for daily blog and keeping it up to date, I did a lot more today. I did practice for Garba and Dandia, and planed to participate in the group dance with 2 more buys and 3 girls on some of the song on Holi! I am doing what ever I really missed in my graduation life (except making love with someone!). Also, I helped my cousins to download and make account on Skype, and did video chat. Interestingly they did not had either web-cam or microphone, so I was just speaking and doing act and they were reacting on it by typing! That's it, I did nothing more then that.

The day was not very funny or happy after making her sad and angry yesterday! Anyways, I woke-up early because I slept early yesterday and planned to do some study in the morning. So I did actually. I finished one more chapter of Digital IC Design in the day time and then went to college for making phone call, get some printout and do some more study! I did everything except little more study! I return back to the work of Nick and started reading SSTA (Check out wiki for the meaning of this funny word!) I started reading about this new topic and got some research paper about this topic. Unfortunately the printer stopped working and I could not able to get print of most of the paper, but that's ok because I already have enough in my plate to finish.

Another busiest day, but thanks to Prof. Nick for taking off this week and giving us a break of 2 hour in the full day hectic schedule. Unfortunately my day was not that great! I was feeling almost sleepy from the beginning of the first class of Computer Arithmetic. Somehow I had managed to wake-up in the first 2 class viz. Computer Arithmetic and VLSI Test Technology and Reliability. But I surrendered after that and decided to return to home and take proper rest! After returning home I took my lunch (which was in my modern school bag, my laptop bag!), and then went for the sleep. I wake-up at around 7 or so, and then decided to study after a long time... I was busy in writing a small report since many days and was not able to manage time for study. Now, since I have finally finished the report, and took a long rest as well, I should start covering my academics as well. I did finished 1 chapter of Digital IC Design. But that was not enough. Unfortunately I could not able to do more then that and left a lot of pending work for the next day!

The worst part of the day was to make her angry and sad because of shouting on her, making her upset, and making her feel bad! I realized it but little late, till then she already went for the sleep. This is what I can say for you:

Today I had class but wake-up late so didn't go for the class. Finally today I finished the report! Hurree... now, I have to start reading more literature for the Nick's work and also take care of the course work.

No class means no work! Went to lab to complete Digital IC Design assignment and then started writing the report! The same report... Today I finished almost equation editing, table, figure, and section labelling and their references. The remaining task is to complete the reference section, and image editing.

Nothing great is happening now a day! The day started with Computer Arithmetic assignment, then class and then as usual, report! Today I transferred the doc file into latex. Some latex post processing such as equations, label, image editing, flow chart, etc is required in the final report. Today I returned from university early because today was my turn to cook food! As per the plan, today I cooked Rajama with Rice. I also tried to prepare Kheer which was delicious!

Today is the last day for the assignment of computer arithmetic. I finished chapter 2, followed by assignment question 2. Then some rest by watching movie Gandhi My Father. After that I felt little tired and slept for 2 hours. Wake-up at around 7:00PM and then reading of chapter 3, followed by assignment question 3, and then chapter 4 and assignment question 4. Finally I finished the assignment solution of all 4 questions. Now, I have to write the solution in a plane paper which I can submit tomorrow. Since it's too late in the night, I have decided to write the solution tomorrow morning before class.
